Trim and snap green beans into thirds. (This step can be done in advance.)
Mince the onion.
Steam beans over boiling water or microwave until tender.
Saute the onions in olive oil until tender.
Add steamed beans, basil and garlic powder. Toss. Season with salt and pepper.
